Show and ask
pi-kanban show posts a markdown or HTML file as a card: a table, a chart, a diagram. The show skill teaches pi the card styles. In the board terminal, the card shows over the top right corner of the terminal. When pi runs in another terminal, the card opens as a tab next to the board. The agent edits the card file, and the card refreshes on each save. A card with the same --key replaces the one before it. See the CLI reference.
When the card has the focus:
| Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
[ / ] |
Previous or next post |
Alt+Enter |
Fill the terminal with the card, or go back |
Esc |
Back to the card, else collapse it to its header |
Alt+W |
Close the card until the next post |
Ctrl+D |
Remove the post |
Ctrl + + / − / 0 |
Card text size |
Ctrl+Alt+` moves the focus between the terminal and the card.
The ask tool shows an HTML card in a modal: a form, a choice between two layouts, sliders over a preview. pi waits until you answer or skip, and gets the answer as the tool result. While pi waits, the session card shows a question icon and the sidebar counts it as waiting. Esc hides the modal, and a button brings it back. When the board is not running, pi asks in its own prompt.
Card style
Section titled “Card style”An HTML card is a body fragment. Take colors and fonts from the board’s CSS variables (--color-bg, --color-text, --color-accent, --font-sans, and others) so the card follows the light or dark mode and the color theme.
