Kanbot
Kanbot is a Claude Code session that belongs to the board, not to a project. Ask it about your sessions, about Claude Code Kanban itself, or about anything else. It runs the board CLI for you, and it hands work that changes a project to a new session that you can watch.
Kanbot is experimental. It needs the embedded terminal.
Open Kanbot
Section titled “Open Kanbot”Click the small orange glyph next to the version at the bottom of the sidebar. Kanbot opens in a popover over the board. The first open starts the Claude Code process, so it takes a few seconds.
The popover header has four buttons:
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| – | Hide the popover. Kanbot keeps running, and the next open shows the same screen. |
| Dock | Dock Kanbot as a full-height panel on the right edge. Drag its left edge to change the width. Click again to undock. |
| Expand | Show Kanbot in a large panel in the middle of the window. Click again to restore. |
| × | End the Claude Code process. The next open resumes the same chat. |
The browser remembers the layout and the docked width.
While Kanbot is open, Ctrl+W in a browser tab asks before it closes the page, as for the embedded terminal.
What Kanbot does
Section titled “What Kanbot does”- Answers questions about your sessions, their transcripts and tasks, and about Claude Code Kanban. For Claude Code Kanban, it reads this documentation.
- Runs the board. It uses the
claude-code-kanbanCLI to link documents, add panes, open and pin sessions, and list tasks. See the CLI reference. - Hands off project work. For a code change, a fix or a long build, Kanbot does not do the work itself. It suggests a new session, with the project folder and a prompt, and starts it with dispatch when you agree.
Kanbot cannot see which session you have open on the board. Name the session, for example “the login session”, and Kanbot finds it with session search. When more than one session fits, it asks.
One chat that stays
Section titled “One chat that stays”Kanbot always resumes its newest chat. When you end it with ×, type /exit or restart the server, the next open continues where you stopped. Type /clear to start a new chat.
Kanbot runs in its own folder, <config-dir>/.cck/kanbot. Its sessions do not show in the session list, the live feed or the session picker. In the Terminals manager, its row is named Kanbot.
The first time Kanbot starts, Claude Code asks whether you trust its folder. Choose Yes, I trust this folder.
Memory
Section titled “Memory”Kanbot keeps its own memory in <config-dir>/.cck/kanbot/.claude/agent-memory/. Ask it to remember something, and it writes a note there for later chats. This memory is separate from the memory of your project sessions.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Set these in <config-dir>/.cck/config.json:
{ "kanbot": { "enabled": true, "model": "sonnet" }}enabled: set tofalseto hide the Kanbot button. The server reads the file again when it changes, so no restart is needed.model:fable,opus,sonnetorhaiku. With no value, Claude Code uses its default model. The model applies from the next start: click × and open Kanbot again./modelin the chat changes it for the running process only.
Until you click the button, Kanbot starts no process and uses no resources.
