Review comments
You can comment on a file in the Preview dialog or on the plan in the plan dialog, and send all the comments to the session in one step. Each comment quotes the text it is about, so Claude knows what to change.
What takes comments
Section titled “What takes comments”- Markdown, HTML and text files in the Preview dialog. See Linked documents for how to open one.
- The plan of a session in the plan dialog. Press P to open it.
- Claude’s replies in the message dialog, for the main session. Your first comment stops the dialog from following the latest message, so the reply stays on screen.
- File panes and show cards.
Images do not take comments.
Add comments
Section titled “Add comments”- Select text in the file. A Comment button shows next to the selection.
- Click Comment, or press C, then type your comment and press Ctrl+Enter to add it. The text you selected gets a highlight.
- Add more comments. The dialog gets wider, and a side panel lists each comment under the text it quotes.
In the side panel:
- Hover a card to highlight its text in the file. Click the card to scroll to that text.
- Click the pencil, or double-click a comment, to edit it. Press Ctrl+Enter to save or Esc to cancel.
- Click × to remove one comment, or Discard to remove all of them.
In a text file, each comment records its line number. In an HTML file, it records the element and the CSS selector of the selection.
Comments you have not sent stay with the file and the session. Close the dialog and open the file again, and they are still there. A page reload removes them.
When the file changes on disk, the board finds each comment’s text again and puts its highlight back. A comment whose text is gone shows not found and is still sent. A comment you are typing, or an edit you have not saved, also comes back after the file changes or after another dialog opens on top and closes. If its text is gone, a message offers to copy it. Press Esc or close the file to throw it away.
Click Send, or press Ctrl+Enter when the comment editor is closed. The board writes the comments to a Markdown file in <config-dir>/.cck/reviews/<session id>/. Then it gives them to the session in the first way that works:
- If the session listens to the board, Claude gets a prompt that points at the review file. If Claude is busy, the prompt waits until the turn ends. The board keeps the review until the session has it, so a board restart, a
/clearor a closed session does not lose it: a resumed session gets it. - Else, if the session runs in the embedded terminal and does not wait on a prompt, the board pastes a request that points at the review file into the terminal.
- Else, the board copies the review to the clipboard and shows a toast. Paste the review into the session yourself. Click Copy again if the clipboard lost it.
After a send, the dialog closes and the comments are cleared. If the send fails, the dialog stays open and keeps the comments.
The review file starts with a short note for Claude, then has one section for each comment: where it is, the quoted text and your comment. If the file changed after you commented, Claude says that a quote is missing. A review file lives as long as the transcript of its session.
